Reaching out to our community

FOOD PANTRY

WOW! What a Wednesday!  The first food distribution day for the month of September was a record breaking day.  We were able to help over 60 people/families with food bags.  The problem was, we only received 50 bags from HUM.  The generous donations of our congregation supplied the rest.  We pretty much cleaned off the shelves of our stock.  So, THANK YOU and PLEASE keep up with the donations, so next time we will again be able to help our neighbors.  The list of food needed is the same as always, meat products – i.e. tuna, corn-beef hash, ravioli, Vienna sausage, Spam, canned chicken-any meat produce in a can, pnut butter and jelly, cereal, juice, canned fruit, shelf milk(Parmalat), fresh 1/2 gallon milk, eggs, drink mixes( Kool Aide, Crystal Light), coffee, sugar, canned vegetables, soup, spaghetti sauce, pasta, mac and cheese, hamburger, hot dogs, chicken, lunch meat – (we have 2 freezers available to keep meat frozen) - – ANYTHING you can give is so very much appreciated and helpful.    Lets continue to be a giving and caring disciple of Jesus by helping those who are in need.

Clothes Closet

The “Clothes Closet Gang” extends are heartfelt thanks to all of you who have so generously donated your time, clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc.  We wouldn’t be able to serve the growing numbers without your support.  We have had a number of weeks where over 80 people have visited the Clothes Closet and one week we had 99, all in the span of two hours.

We continue to need the following items:  Check out the Family Dollar Store, Dollar General or the Dollar Tree and see what $1.00 will buy:  Shampoo-15 oz., deodorant – 1 1/2-2 1/2 oz., shaving cream – 14 oz. toothpaste – 6 oz.,  razors, toothbrushes and toileet tissue.

Also, if you peruse the newspaper ads you will often find shampoo for less than $1.00 at area drugstores and 24 rolls of Angel Soft toilet tissue for eithr $4.99 or $5.49 at the local supermarkets.

Stop by and visit.  We’re a growing ministry constantly changing to meet the needs of those we serve.

As a team member, I want to extend to all who help stock our shelves with the much needed food supplies, a big THANK YOU. Being able to bring physical relief as well as spiritual relief to our neighbors, means so very much. A contribution of just a few boxes of cereal or cans of tuna, or whatever… helps so many. Your generous giving helps keep us going. Our basic list of needs remains the same, but have had a lot of requests for canned meat produts i.e. vienna sasuage, corn beef hash, Treet, Spam. Also requests for peanut butter and jelly, baby food, dry baby formula, coffee – instant and regular, sugar, jello, drink mixes (with sugar already in mix). These simple items go a long way to making someone feel like they are going to be “OK”. Thank you all for your help. Pray for the people and the day to day challenges life presents to them. Pray that we as the body of Christ, are able to make a difference to not only the stomach, but their soul too!
